Abstract

This collection of free verse poetry explores the author's personal experiences as a child in rural Appalachia and later as a student and resident of a larger college town. The poems use a variety styles of line, punctuation, and stance toward the material in order to achieve as complete of a picture of this landscape as possible. Some of the other ideas that are explored include work, our relationship to nature, masculinity, and communication.
