Abstract

This was one of the sections removed from the original manuscript of The Commons (1992). There was no problem with it and reviewers expressed no concerns. The publisher just wanted a 10% shorter manuscript. It is a discussion of MesoAmerican fiestas as commons. Such festivals are now classified as performatories in the commons theory of voluntary action. The emphasis is on the use of common pool resources to support performances.
