Description

Blastoids: The blastoid is an extinct type of echinoderm, often called sea buds. The first appeared in the Ordovician Period and reached their greatest diversity in the Mississippian Period. Pentremites is an early genus of blastoid echinoderms that averaged a height of 4.5 inches (11 cm) with a hickory-shaped body but occasionally reached three times that size.
