Abstract
Anthropology aims to study people and their culture in order to understand the breadth of human experience. This paper examines the ways in which a semester of study abroad can supplement and aid in future work in anthropology. Primarily, it examines culture shock and how it can be managed and the connections between cultures that are separated across space. It also explores the ways in which the environment and wildlife of a new area can contribute to a person's experience of place.
