Description
“I have been turned away by more medical professionals than I can count for reasons like “you look okay” or “you’re so young” or “you’re thin so you must be healthy?”. All of these comments fueled the fire that became my idea for “Chronic Illness Barbie,” a series of self portraits portrayed as Barbie & doing things Barbie would do, with a little twist I decided to add elements of my illness visually. So overall these photos will be very bright and colorful and reminiscent of a Barbie ad, but when you look a little closer you’ll see a few things that are a little off. I want to remind my audience that just because someone looks fine, doesn’t mean that they are.”
