The West Virginia University School of Art & Design presents its 2020 BFA Exhibition featuring student work in ceramics, photography and intermedia, sculpture, graphic design, painting and drawing.
The abundance of graduating artists is reflective of the strength of enrollment in the School’s programs.
“I think it’s a good sign that there are so many art and design majors graduating this year, it shows that more students are taking their practice seriously,” says senior painting major Danielle Rudash. “As a senior, I feel like I’m finally learning the importance of art made by our generation. We are the ones who have been raised in this contemporary culture and each of us are trying to understand where our purpose lies by developing a visual language. This is reflected in the high degree of diversity in the exhibition.”
Included works are a culmination of coursework and explorations at West Virginia University by graduating BFA majors in studio art from the School of Art and Design.
Participation in this exhibition is part of the requirement for their senior studio capstone. Scholarly emphasis in these courses is placed on advanced visual and design research development, peer and professional collaboration, and critical thinking.
