Abstract
The amendments to the Older Americans Act adopted by Congress in 1978 raise a number of critical issues related to the delivery of services in rural areas. Among the most important of these is the call for an integrated continuum of services for the aged. This study examines one approach to such a continuum in a study conducted in rural New York state, and replicates that research design to examine the array of services for the aged in north central West Virginia. While it is clear that a number of underlying linkages and dependencies exist, the unidimensional approach of this study is found wanting.
