WVU owns a number of rare botanical books, including two 16th-century herbals, Nehemiah Grew's The Anatomy of Plants (which shows the early use of microscopes), and a lavishly illustrated 17th-century account of the flora of southern India, with plant names in Latin, Arabic, Malayalam, Konkani, and English.
