Abstract
This thesis focuses on the development of public relations and advertising themes derived empirically from attitude measurement. Components of attitudes towards transit in a small city (pop. 25,000) with college campus are studied (student pop. 20,000). Comparisons are drawn between people who ride the bus frequently and infrequent rider. Two samples were compared, one of bus riders, the other of employed professionals found at there workplace. Advertising and public relations media and message strategies appropriate to audience involvement level and attitudes are advanced based on sample demographics and significant differences in the respondent rated performance and importance of 14 transit attitude attributes.
