Abstract
In this thesis I will illuminate on the process of not only acting in a stage performance, but the writing of the show itself and the inspiration involved. By taking examples from different levels in my theatre training and my life I will show the journey from undergrad to MFA. I will also illustrate the growth and struggle in accomplishing a greater understanding for theatre and it’s stage. Bang, Bang!! was a real show that came naturally to an area that was long overdue for a new type of theatre. The setting of the show (West Virginia) and the audience are almost test subjects for the execution of theatre that makes an impact. The lack of new theatre and the frustration involved also act as a motivation for Bang, Bang!! In strategically writing and producing this play I will also prove how theatre can still be used to send shockwaves into a sold out house to get the audiences attention. Different acting styles are also incorporated into the show to test the skills I have worked to obtain in the past years. Then there is also the struggle between actor and playwright and how the two collaborate and clash while both aiming for the same objective.
