Abstract
This document is a record of the process involved in creating the lighting for West Virginia University’s 2004 production of Kolonists, by Stephen Dykes. The project was assigned to serve as partial fulfillment of the requirements of a Master of Fine Arts in Design and Theatre Technology, and this document completes the requirements for that degree. This thesis explains the progress of the design from its research and conceptualization to its synopsis, criticism and history of the original production, and a self-evaluation of the work. Research examples, drawings and production photos are included for visual references.
