Abstract
In this paper, the reader will follow the journey I took when approaching and performing the role of Regina Hubbard in West Virginia University’s fall ‘07 production of Another Part of the Forest by Lillian Hellmann. First I will share my impressions of the script and my audition process. Then explore the rehearsal process, a five-week journey, where I found Regina’s voice, motivations, and mannerisms. I will then discuss the exploration of performing this role in front of audience, what discoveries that brought to my process and how that affected my interpretation and portrayal of Regina. I will conclude with my final evaluation and the understanding that the role, Regina Hubbard played in my education and development as an actor.
