Abstract
Bloomland and Other Stories is a novel excerpt and collection of short stories about the lives of young, queer, Iranian Americans and their families. This semi-autobiographical collection draws deeply upon my own experience as a bisexual, Iranian American adolescent in the 2000s during the United States invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan and 2008-9 financial crisis. This creative work explores the identity of these characters and their families as they face mental health crises and suicidal ideation compounded by policing, surveillance, isolation, and alienation in the United States.
