Abstract
This poetry manuscript explores the relationship of the speaker to her brother and parents—and the loss that comes with losing a twin. The work spans over childhood into young adulthood, and it looks at trauma and grief through a lens that knows healing is cyclical. The speaker journeys into self-discovery—through this exploration, they learn that “it’s okay not to make sense,” as Brenda Hillman wrote, and that some things will never make sense. With this knowing, acceptance can be found. The manuscript is a panoptic look at childhood trauma and grief, and the knowing that something beautiful can be found even in loss.
