Abstract
The thesis is intended to explore the theme of memory and its effects on the speaker of the following poems from infancy to young adulthood. The "story" the poems create is one of a female living in a rural setting whose father commits suicide when she is still a child, and thus, many of the poems find the speaker grappling with grief in many ways.
