Abstract
Ash Street in Orange County, California is quickly changing. Originally a packinghouse barrio, the neighborhood is in the process of gentrification. This collection of linked short stories follows the lives of four of the houses' inhabitants---the Gonzalez family, Francisco Romero, Madeline Davies, and Amanda and Richard Perkins. The stories examine the tension that arises from living in a shifting landscape as the characters face issues of identity, place, and unaddressed history in Orange County, California.
