Abstract
This collection of creative nonfiction essays is about seeking connections in the author's life. The essays range from the author's explorations of British women writers and her residence in London to the students she taught in Boston's Chinatown and the relationship between her mother, aunt and grandmother. Each essay explores the tension between belonging and standing apart, acceptance and quiet rebellion.
