Abstract
This collection of poems follows the arc of personal loss from frustration to reanimation. The speaker who initially is disillusioned by the possibility of love finds himself incapable of action to better himself. The poems ask whether one can change the trajectory of love and if love is a form of self-improvement. As the collection progresses ideas of intimacy with the self and the other are challenged. The main question of this collection is whether one can find calm without the love and comfort of another person.
