Abstract
This novel, of approximately 62,000 words, is a literary thriller set in an Ohio town on the border of Appalachia and the Midwest. Autumn, 2007.
Tree, Ohio: Mr. Cora—a high school math teacher of the lone-wolf variety—stumbles lovestruck into an embezzlement scandal. Meanwhile, Cheryl Atwater discovers a strange note on her son’s homework assignment. The teacher and concerned parent form an unlikely duo, alerting Cheryl’s husband and local police officer, Eb, that there’s more to the story than small-town secrets.
