Abstract
Arthurdale: An Experiment in Community Planning, 1933-1947 is a history of the first feederally sponsored subsistence homestead in American history. The development of Arthurdale, West Virginia, was made possible by the passage of the National Industrial Recovery Act, one section of which appropriated $25,000,000 for the construction of subsistence homesteads.
