Abstract
The purpose of this research is to provide basic information hitherto unavailable concerning the mechanical responses of the whole head and brain considered as a system. The long range goals of this program are to develop suitable instrumentation and experimental techniques that can be utilized in the development of a material candidate for substitution of brain in an artificial head, and methods of comparing the overall responses of the artificial head with those of a human head.
